2024 Key Stage 4 Results

Pupils and staff at Westlands School were extremely pleased with the excellent results our Year 11 pupils gained in 2024.

  • 58% of our pupils achieved a standard pass (grade 4), or higher, in both English and mathematics and 30% achieved a strong pass (grade 5), or higher, in both.

  • In English, 144 out of 313 students (46% of our cohort) achieved a 5 or above and 70% of students got 4 or above. Mathematics also performed well with 42% getting a 5 or above and 69% achieving at least a grade 4.

  • Progress 8 and Attainment 8 are the government’s performance measures brought in from 2017. For 2023, the school achieved an attainment 8 figure of 40.08.

  • 11% of our cohort were entered into the English Baccalaureate. 5% of pupils achieved a standard pass (grade 4 or higher) and 2% of pupils achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or higher) in English, mathematics, geography/history and French.  Our Ebacc APS was 3.32.

92% of our cohort remained in education after Key Stage 4.

 

2024 Key Stage 5 Results

This year we had 18 students complete Tech Level qualifications, with an average grade of Distinction and APS of 34.38.  Our APS score for A Level was 23.39 and for Applied General subjects was 26.49.

Over 80 A Level subject examinations were sat in the summer with 14% achieving a B grade or higher and an overall average grade of D+ for these qualifications.

For the Applied General subjects, we had over 100 entries. Of these, 30 were either a Distinction / B grade or higher.

We were particularly pleased with our performance in Finance, achieving a Value Added score of +0.47.  Our Child Development department also performed strongly in the technical qualifications, achieving an average grade of Distinction* and APS of 36.67.  Our Year 12s also had a strong year, achieving Value Added of +0.97 in AS Maths.

Over 50% of our Year 13 cohort were offered a place at university and were able to continue their educational journey on the back of successful results in the summer.

For our GCSE resits, 58% of our cohort achieved a grade 4 or higher for English, compared to 26% nationally (2023), and 55% improved on their previous Mathematics grade, with 35% achieving grade 4 and above compared to 16% nationally (2023).
