Course Overview

This is a two year course that aims to develop pupils' understanding of the creative process and learn to communicate visually. Pupils begin with a foundation experience investigating a broad range of processes and techniques to include; drawing and painting, mixed media, sculpture and printmaking. Exploration and experimentation is encouraged. It is expected that as the course progresses pupils will develop independence to produce a personal portfolio of artwork. A range of contemporary artists are studied alongside project work. Opportunities to work with visiting artists and visit exhibitions are experienced during the course of study.

60% Professional Portfolio, 40% Externally Set Assignment

Course Overview

A Level Fine Art begins with a range of workshops that teach drawing and painting, sculpture, printmaking and mixed media processes. Pupils complete a personal investigation into an area of art and design that reflects their personal interests. This is followed by an externally set assignment.

A range of contemporary artists are studied alongside project work. Opportunities to work with visiting artists and visit exhibitions are experienced during the course of study.
