Kent School Award for Resilience and Emotional Wellbeing

We are absolutely delighted to share some wonderful news with our school community.

Westlands School has officially been reaccredited with the Kent School Award for Resilience and Emotional Wellbeing.

This award, supported by the Kent Resilience Hub, is a testament to our ongoing commitment to the mental health and emotional wellbeing of both our students and our staff. In their feedback, the awarding body praised the "wide-ranging programs and resources" we have in place, noting that “wellbeing is truly part of our core daily work.”

The award is more than just a certificate on the wall; it reflects the daily culture at Westlands. By achieving this, we have demonstrated that:

  • Resilience is embedded in our teaching, helping students develop the tools to navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Student voice is prioritised, ensuring that our young people have a say in how wellbeing is managed within their school.

Support systems are robust, providing clear and effective pathways for any student who may need extra help.

We are incredibly proud of our students, whose maturity and openness regarding mental health continue to inspire us. We also want to thank you, our parents and carers. Your partnership is a vital part of the "whole-school approach" that this award celebrates.

As we move forward, we remain dedicated to sustaining and embedding these principles into everything we do. We believe that a happy, resilient child is a child who is ready to learn and succeed.

Thank you for your continued support in making Westlands a nurturing and supportive environment for all.
