Welcome to Westlands School
Welcome to our school. Here at Westlands we are determined to do our best to ensure that your child receives the best possible quality of education.
For the past few years the school has gained recognition in the community and from Ofsted for the outstanding quality of education we provide across the ability range.
Our pastoral system here at Westlands is simply second to none. We will do all within our power to ensure that all of our pupils feel safe and secure throughout their school life.
Westlands is a school that embodies a set of traditional values built upon mutual respect and hard work. We welcome all pupils and parents who subscribe to these values.
Ski Trip 2017
Following previous successful trips organised by Westlands School, we are now looking forward to winter 2017 and we are very excited to offer your child a once in a lifetime ski trip to the USA.
Your child will learn to ski in the fabulous resorts of Loon and Cannon Mountain, New Hampshire during the February Half Term holidays in 2017.
We will be staying at the Indian Head Resort with spectacular views from modern and spacious rooms and take a dip in the indoor or year round heated outdoor pool! Further to this we are also going to spend one night in New York City!
For more information please contact Miss Winstanley.
Parent View gives you the chance to tell us what you think about the Westlands School.
Parent View asks for your opinion on 12 aspects of the school, from the quality of teaching, to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour.
By sharing your views, you'll be helping Westlands School to improve. You will also be able to see what other parents have said about the school. Or, if you want to, view the results for any school in England.
Open Evening and Open Mornings
Westlands is holding an Open Evening for September 2017 admissions on Thursday 29 September 2016 from 6pm-8pm.
We are also holding Open Mornings from Monday 3 - Friday 14 October 2016. Tours will take place at 9am and 11am - please contact the school office on 01795 477475 to book your place.
31-08-2016 - Reminder - Measles, Chicken Pox and Shingles
Further to information sent in July, we would like to thank you for your cooperation and again ask for your support in a vitally important matter.
One of our pupils is receiving medical treatment for cancer. This puts the pupil at serious risk if exposed to measles, chicken pox or shingles.
The best way to protect a pupil from measles is for all pupils to be immunised against measles. Please discuss measles immunisation with your GP if your child is not already vaccinated. If you suspect your child has measles you should let the school know immediately.
Our pupil is also at risk from chicken pox and would need to be given an injection within three days of contact. Please let us know immediately if you suspect that you child has chicken pox.
It is also very important that you let us know if anyone in your household has shingles.
Your own child is not at any risk whatsoever from this situation. However, the health and wellbeing of our pupils with cancer may be at serious risk. We depend on the cooperation of all parents and know we can rely on your help.
30-08-2016 - Year 10 - Digital Learning Launch Event, Thursday 8 September
We are pleased to inform you that One-to-One Digital Learning will be rolled out for year 10 during term 1 and term 2.
One-to-One Digital Learning incorporates iPads into lessons to maximise personalised learning and prepare pupils for a digital future. We have been carrying out a pilot scheme of One-to-One Digital Learning since January 2016 and have received excellent feedback from pupils, parents and teachers. The iPads have had a significant impact on increasing independent learning, both within lessons and at home. We want to ensure that all pupils in year 10 are able to benefit from one-to-one learning in preparation for their GCSEs.
To find out more about digital learning and how your child can take part, please attend our Digital Learning Launch event on Thursday 8 September 2016. There will be two time slots available at 5:30pm and 6:30pm; please advise the school office as to the time slot you wish to attend - you can do this by email to email@example.com for the attention of Mr Ashworth or Mr Beer.

We have received some information from Public Health England (South East).
Immunisation continues to be one of most important public health measures in the fight against disease.
You may be aware that there has been a rise in the reported cases of measles across England this year, particularly affecting young people. We have been asked by the National Immunisation Network to raise awareness of the issues and to highlight the MMR vaccination programme.
