Welcome to Westlands School
Welcome to our school. Here at Westlands we are determined to do our best to ensure that your child receives the best possible quality of education.
For the past few years the school has gained recognition in the community and from Ofsted for the outstanding quality of education we provide across the ability range.
Our pastoral system here at Westlands is simply second to none. We will do all within our power to ensure that all of our pupils feel safe and secure throughout their school life.
Westlands is a school that embodies a set of traditional values built upon mutual respect and hard work. We welcome all pupils and parents who subscribe to these values.
Parent View gives you the chance to tell us what you think about the Westlands School.
Parent View asks for your opinion on 12 aspects of the school, from the quality of teaching, to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour.
By sharing your views, you'll be helping Westlands School to improve. You will also be able to see what other parents have said about the school. Or, if you want to, view the results for any school in England.

11-01-2016 - Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a programme for young people aged 14-25 designed to develop independence and survival skills in the outdoors and general life. Pupils at Westlands are given the opportunity to work towards the Bronze level award where they will be taught basic map reading skills, camp craft and expedition skills. They will be given the opportunity to work as part of a team and above all enjoy themselves. Most universities and colleges value the Duke of Edinburgh Award as it shows commitment and responsibility.
We meet every Wednesday lunch time with the occasional after school session to practise hiking in the countryside. The cost of the award is £20 which includes all training and the final assessment.
All pupils interested in joining the Duke of Edinburgh Award must attend a meeting on Wednesday 13 January at lunch time in room A26 with Miss Hughes. Those already signed up should also come along.
If your child is interested, please contact Miss Hughes.
06-01-2016 - Year 8 - Options Fayre, Monday 25 January 2016
Year 8 pupils and their parents are invited to an Options Fayre on Monday 25 January. It will be an opportunity to discuss the options process and preparations for the new Key Stage 4 curriculum that they will be starting in July 2016.
There will be two talks at this event - they will be in Cryalls Hall at 4:00pm and 5:00pm. There will also be an opportunity, after each talk, to visit the Options Fayre where each optional subject will have staff available to answer any questions you may have about the subject content and what will be involved. They will have information available to help you make an informed decision on the most suitable choices.
It is important that parents attend this event as the process of choosing options will be explained fully. A booklet will be provided to help you make informed choices about their future.
If you would like any additional advice specific to your son/daughter please contact their Learning Leader either before or after the Options Fayre.
