Students folllowing the Drama and Theatre studies course find it a challenging yet rewarding programme of study.

| The AS Year is made up of 3 Units spread across 6 Terms. |
The A2 Year consists of Units 4—6 spread across 6 Terms. |
Unit 1 - The study of two plays at present we use 'The Crucible' by Arthur Miller and 'The Caucasian Chalk Circle' by Bertolt Brecht. |
Unit 4 - Devising - Using a starting point students will be asked to devise a performance themselves. |
Unit 2 - Text in performance 1 - in which students select a play and put it on to a visiting examiner. |
Unit 5 - Text in performance 2 - Using existing play students will need to take it apart then put the script together again to create a new play. |
Unit 3 - Discussion of performance - Students will write about their performance for Unit 2 and a play that we will go and see. A popular performance is 'The Woman in Black'. |
Unit 6 - The performance condition of British Theatre. Students will select a Shakespeare play and will watch a version. They will then compare this to 3 separate centuries and compare the way in which the play would have been put on. |
